We know that many “TableLifers” are out of town this week end but for those that ARE around, how about joining us at the Virginia Highland Summerfest? We can meet at around 2 pm (or when ever you can get there), take in the sights and sounds of the festival, and then head someplace for dinner at around 5 or so. Will offered to be the “go to guy” – call or text his cell upon arrival (423-902-5019) and he will direct you to our “position”. Will and I are excited to tell you about our gathering Friday with the “emergent Islam” group, AIF! Hope to see you Sunday! (It would be helpful if you would “comment” as to if you are able to join us.)

INTO GREAT SILENCE

This Sunday, we will meet at Will and Ann’s for potluck and watch the movie “Into Great Silence”:

As those of you who’ve looked at a map have noticed, the place where all the maps put our address (3334 Peachtree Rd. NE, Atlanta, GA 30305) and where we actually are, aren’t the same. Below is a link that exactly locates our building.

Also, for those who need to avoid stairs, the front entrance (facing Tower Place Dr.) is best. There is very limited parking there and you’ll need to tell the concierge that you parked down there so the he or she can get you a parking pass. If there isn’t enough parking you can walk to that entrance from the shopping mall parking deck. Those of you coming in by freeway will find that taking the Lenox Rd. exit off of SR400 is the easiest way to get to our building. The above map should generated correct directions.

This Sunday, we will find the Sacred in nature as we hike Kennesaw Mountain. We will meet at the visitor center parking lot at 9 am and hike for an hour or two. We might have biscuits and gravy at a great “hole-in-the-wall” restaurant right around the corner from the park called Louise’s. If you can only join us for a short time, that’s fine. If you just want to meet us at Louise’s, text me at 678-756-5383 to let me know.

Next Sunday (May 16th) we will be meeting at Will and Ann’s for potluck and a movie!

We hope everyone had a meaningful Holy Week and Easter! This Sunday we will be taking advantage of the beautiful weather (forecast of 74 degrees and sunny!) and doing another picnic in McKoy Park, 534 McKoy Street, Decatur, GA 30030. Plan on meeting at around 4:30 and BYO picnic basket.

Ann Temkin will be leading the discussion centered on “TRUST” as a further push of Will’s topic a couple weeks ago on “authority”. It promises to be a lively conversation! As always, it will help us if you “comment” that you are coming.

Also, “The Bread” will be back again!

This Saturday Night – April 3rd: An Easter Vigil

This Saturday evening (April 3rd) at 8 pm, we will participate in an Easter Vigil service at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Decatur (where we have done the Taize and labyrinth). Baptism is offered at this service, as this was the early church’s once-a-year time for that sacrament.

Lenten Carol Service at The Cathedral of St. Philip

This Sunday, we will gather together in the main lobby at 3:45 pm to attend the 4 pm “A Meditation on the Passion of Christ with Carols” at The Cathedral of St. Philip at 2744 Peachtree Road in Atlanta. After the program, we will break bread and share a meal around the table of a near-by restaurant. Post a comment if you are able to join us so that we might watch for you!

Be sure to mark your calendars for Sunday, March 28 at 4 p.m., when this annual “Lenten carol service” will be sung by the Cathedral Schola under the direction of Dr. Dale Adelmann. This service—which Dale actually introduced to the United States from St. John’s College, Cambridge, England 15 years ago—combines carols and spirituals rich in the imagery of Jesus’ incarnation and passion with the simple but powerful ancient plainchant Gospel narratives related to his trial and death. The service is only offered in a few dozen Episcopal parishes nationwide! This service will feature works by Carter, Adelmann, Tchaikovsky, Britten and Lotti, among others. Everyone should make plans to hear this marvelous service—a wonderful way to begin Holy Week!

This Sunday at 4:30 pm, we will be gathering around the Berndt’s table for dinner, conversation and the Eucharist. Dinner will be a potluck: Rebekah will make spaghetti carbonara, and then someone could bring a salad, someone could bring garlic bread or bruschetta, a vegetarian pasta, dessert, and wine. Simply post a “Comment” below to indicate what you can bring.
